It has a 10% higher yield than pine bark of proanthocyanidins. Proanthocyanidins are 50 times more effective than Vitamin E and 20 times more effective than Vitamin C as antioxidants.

Grape seed extract contains a specific proanthocyanidin that has a higher degree of free radical scavenging potential.

This study would seem to bring those previous assumptions into question. There is still a great deal of research to be done into the potential health benefits of antioxidants.
